DumBO

On November 1st, 2025, we visited Viva la Vida at DumBo for the first time, and it was such an amazing experience! The festival was a beautiful celebration of Día de Muertos, with music, dance, workshops, exhibitions, and lots of delicious Mexican food. As first-timers, we found DumBo really easy to get around. The space was wheelchair friendly with wide paths, and the layout made it simple to explore everything. The staff were friendly, helpful, and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. The festival was super family-friendly, and we saw lots of kids and families having fun with face painting, workshops, and colorful performances. It also felt really inclusive and welcoming, with activities and performances that let everyone enjoy and connect with Mexican traditions. Overall, our first visit to DumBo for Viva la Vida was joyful, fun, and full of energy. We left feeling inspired and happy, and we can’t wait to go back for another event!

We went to the Rail market and we found a very cool place! Beautiful street art, full of beautiful and artsy people! The Barrio (the place where you can drink and eat) is nice and the food (we got the Nasty burgers!) is delicious! Absolutely recommend!

Tucked away in a revitalized industrial area just a short distance from Bologna's city center, DumBO is a triumph of urban regeneration. This former railway yard has been brilliantly transformed into a sprawling, multi-purpose cultural hub, offering a breath of fresh air from the city's more traditional venues. Spanning nearly 40,000 square meters, the space is a dynamic and ever-changing canvas for events, art, music, and community engagement. The venue's strength lies in its raw, authentic character. Exposed brick walls, high ceilings, and vast open areas create a rustic yet modern aesthetic that is both versatile and visually striking. Whether it's a bustling market, an intimate concert, or an art exhibition, DumBO's industrial backdrop provides a unique atmosphere. The "DumBO Summertime" festival is a particular highlight, filling the outdoor spaces with a vibrant program of live music, DJ sets, and street food. DumBO is more than just a venue; it's a creative ecosystem where different disciplines and communities intersect. It's a place that embraces social innovation and collaboration, and that's what makes it truly special. While its location might require a short walk or bus ride from the city center, the journey is well worth it for anyone seeking a truly authentic and contemporary Bolognese experience.

A cool place for events with beautiful street art. It needs permanent barthrooms though. I went there for Funny Day (a nice vegan event by the way, with excellent food) and only found chemical toilets that were not very functional.

Not open on Sunday in July as the hours say (at 12:00 noon). Walked a long way to find it closed so I hope the opening hours can be improved. It’s a very cool space for events though when it’s open.

DUMBO: the venue is awesome, although not all the spaces are open 365, check out before going. If it’s summer and you are around Bologna, don’t miss a stroll around here for a really quirky post-industrial somewhat hipstery experience surrounded by large scale graffiti in a former industrial site. Why then only 3 ⭐️? Food options are not satisfactory and beer selection is rather small, although their IPA passes the test hands down. Great spot for night gigs as well as for an alternative afternoon, mostly attended by groups and couples, hard times for singles on the prowl 😝. The pic features a tofu noodle dish: too salty. Note for music enthusiasts: audio is not great but with your crew and a few drinks all is better
